Itoh Optical Industrial Co.,Ltd, an optical goods manufacturer, has been constantly involved in developing products since its foundation fifty years ago, with the focus mainly on lenses for glasses. In the summer of 2005, just before the 50th anniversary of our company, we started R&D to produce a filter capable of simulating color vision deficiency. This new venture was carried out in cooperation with Prof. Nakauchi of Toyohashi University of Technology and Prof. Shinomori of Kochi University of Technology. In the spring of 2007, at long last, we will release Variantor, a filter simulating color vision deficiency. We are committed to contributing to the building of a universal society through developing, manufacturing, and marketing color universal design and associated tools. Hiroshi Itoh CEO and President
